Acadian Culture Day 2026
The community is invited to join the Bayou Vermilion District’s Vermilionville to celebrate our annual FREE Festival, Acadian Culture Day on Sunday, August 9th from 10 AM – 5 PM. Join us for a family-friendly day of live music, great food, art, cooking, storytelling, spinning and weaving, arts and crafts, and other demonstrations. Some highlights of this year’s festival: French Mass- Fr. Jason Vidrine & music provided by Cedric Watson, French Table led by Kevin Rees. Singing French Table (La Table Chantante) featuring Jolene Adams of Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site, cooking demonstrations. There will be a screening of Belizaire the Cajun & Q & A with Glen Pitre as well as a panel discussion about the Lomax Recordings moderated by Colby LeJeune with panelists including Barry Ancelet, Dr. Joshua Caffery, Jane Vidrine, Kevin Rees. Enjoy crafts for the whole family and Cajun dance lessons with Britlyn Delahoussaye. Artist & author Melissa Bonin will read from her bilingual books.
