Acadian Culture Day 2026

The community is invited to join the Bayou Vermilion District’s Vermilionville to celebrate our annual FREE Festival, Acadian Culture Day on Sunday, August 9th from 10 AM – 5 PM. Join us for a family-friendly day of live music, great food, art, cooking, storytelling, arts and crafts, and other demonstrations.

THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL SCHEDULE:

10:30-11:15am French Mass with Fr. Jason Vidrine of Maison de Tours in the Chapel

11:00am-3:00pm Food Booth (PC)

11:30am-12:00pm Tintamarre through the village

12:00-12:15pm Proclamation & Acadian Cultural Heritage Award

12:00-12:30 Dance lessons with Britlyn Delahoussaye in the Schoolhouse

12:30-1:00 French Table with Kevin Rees in the Cooking School

12:30-1:00pm Storytelling & Art in French with Melissa Bonin in La Maison des Cultures

12:30-1:30pm Giant Cajun Jam led by The Holiday Playgirls & Cathryn Hanks — Bring your instrument, all musicians are welcome to join!

1:00-1:30pm La Table Chantante (Singing French Table) with Jolene Adams in the Cooking School

1:00-1:45pm Panel Discussion on the Lomax Recordings with Moderator Colby LeJeune, and panelists Dr. Barry Ancelet, Jane Vidrine, Kevin Rees, Dr. Joshua Caffery in the Schoolhouse

2:00-5:00pm Kevin Huval’s Cajun Creole Dance Band in the Performance Center

2:00-2:30pm Poetry with Melissa Bonin in La Maison des Cultures

2:15-4:30pm Belizaire the Cajun & Q&A with Glen Pitre in the Schoolhouse

2:30-4:00pm Jambalaya Cooking Demo in the Cooking School

All day (10:00am-4:00pm) Vendors, Community Partners, arts & crafts, Master Gardeners tours of the Healer’s Garden, Acadian Family Committee and Genealogy Group in the Conference Room.
