Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK.  This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m.  Admission is $10 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History museum. Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman.  The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet. Healing Traditions Lecture Series

The Healing Traditions Lecture Series is scheduled to resume on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Vermilionville. Healing Traditions in Acadiana is a free, quarterly lecture series brought to you by the Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners that serves as an introduction to the general public about the healing traditions of the Cajun and Creole peoples of the area as well as the need to preserve medicinal plants, and the knowledge of their uses. This series is an outgrowth of the Master Gardeners' work at the Healer's or Traiteur's Garden located here at Vermilionville. This quarter's lecture is, "Medicine in the Leaves: The History of Vermilionville's unique Healer's Garden," At this lecture Master Gardener and folk healer, Beverly Fuselier will cover the founding of the Healer's Garden which was put in place by local Master Gardeners in 2011. Beverly will speak on its native Louisiana plants, discussing their medicinal value, who used them, how they administered the medicine procured from the leaves, stems, roots, bark, and much associated entertaining folklore.

French Festival: A Day En Français!

On Saturday, March 26 Vermilionville will host an all-day event that celebrates the French language and the vibrant cultures that speak it around the world.  Over the course of the day, guests will experience music in French, poetry and storytelling in French, games in French, French food and drinks, craft opportunities in French, French films, tours of the Vermilionville village in French, and more!  Admissions are discounted at $5 for adults, children 4 and under get in free. The event starts at 9am, so come on and start the day with coffee, fried bread, crêpes, and beignets En Français!  Vermilionville is partnering with organizations and vendors from the community to provide a truly French experience.  Pétanque Lafayette will be in attendance, and anyone of any skill level is invited to join in a game.  UL Lafayette Special Collections will also attend with examples of Francophone offerings from their holdings.  Nous Foundation, an independent platform for exchange between Louisiana and the French-speaking world will also be in attendance.  Vermilionville's Restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman will open at 11am, and French-speaking tables will receive a discount.
