The public can enjoy a FREE FESTIVAL at Vermilionville for the 24th annual Créole Culture Celebration on Sunday June 7, 2026, 10 AM - 4 PM. Every year, Vermilionville celebrates the cultures of Acadiana that contributed so much to our unique folklife. Come back to Vermilionville in June for the return of our Créole Culture Day event! On this day we recognize and honor our region’s Créole heritage. So much of our food, traditions, and music comes to our region from the Créole culture, and on this day we both demonstrate and celebrate its many contributions to our contemporary folklife. Come take a tour on the Cocodrie 2, Bayou Vermilion District’s flat bottom boat. Learn all about the history, geology and environment of the Vermilion River. See the sights, flora and fauna (who knows, and a gator or two!) Spend an hour in the morning breezes with our boat captain, Mike Fowler, and Ivy Broussard as your guides. Admission prices: $15 Adults, $10 Students 5-18. ALSO, if you’re looking for something else cool to do after your boat tour, you can buy tickets for a Beignet Demo at 1:30 PM, Dance Lessons at 2:00 PM, self-guided or guided tour of our historic village, as well. Guided tour will begin at 2:30 PM Life jackets must be worn and will be provided for adults and children over 30 lbs. Minimum age is 5 and older. Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK (may be pre-empted by private events). This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $12 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History Museum.Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman. The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet.
