    The public can enjoy a FREE TWO-DAY FESTIVAL at Vermilionville for the 19th annual Creole Culture Celebration on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 from 10AM-5PM.  Live music with Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole on Saturday and Corey Ledet on Sunday; cooking demonstrations; juré performances; storytelling; Creole language panel discussions; kids’ crafts; art, museum, and photography exhibits; Zydeco dance lessons; genealogy experts; traiteur garden tours; documentaries; The Knights of Peter Claver; and much more!   • Vermilionville’s Painting Class Series

    Vermilionville invites you to come paint with us!  Anyone can participate in our new painting class series starting on Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  Registration is required and includes all art supplies as well as mimosas and strawberry infused water.  You also have the option to add a delicious lunch with bayou chicken caesar wrap, pasta salad, cookie, and lemonade. During this class you will learn to paint a landscape scene of an alligator resting on the bank of the petit bayou.  Fun facts about alligators and our Petit Bayou will be shared with the groups as we paint to educate about the importance alligators play in their ecosystem.  Spots are limited, so make your reservation today!     Les Mains Guidées returns, with a fabulous "VoodooHoodoo" Doll workshop from artist extraordinaire, Kate Ferry. Come make your own Dìa de los Muertos doll (La Calavera Catrina) and learn the story of these dolls, prominent in Mexican culture as part of a multi-day celebration of friends and family who have died. All materials and supplies will be furnished to fashion a colorful work of art for you and your family to enjoy. Workshop attendees age 14 and up!

    The public can enjoy a FREE FESTIVAL at Vermilionville for the 21st annual Créole Culture Celebration on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 10AM - 5PM.  We'll celebrate with live music from Herb Green Drummers, Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters, and Donna Angelle and the Zydeco Posse. There will be cooking demonstrations by Sweet Envie, our own Ms. Deloris and a wine-making demonstration with Mr. Paul Cluse. Louisiana Poet Laureate Johnathan Mayers will share his writing, and Joe Hall will speak about the history, changes and traditions of Creole & Zydeco music. Also, enjoy juré performances, storytelling, kids’ crafts, art from Erica Melancon Fox, museum, and photography exhibits, Zydeco dance lessons, genealogy experts, traiteur garden tours, documentaries, and much more! Another highlight will be the presentation of the Richard J. Catalon Creole Heritage award to a distinguished advocate and supporter of the Créole culture.   • FREE Native American Culture Day

    Native American Culture Day is slated for Saturday, November 18, 2023, 10 AM – 4 PM at Vermilionville. It’s a FREE festival with family-friendly events, demonstrations, cultural exhibits and much more. Tribal groups who will participate include: Louisiana Attakapas Eagle Tribe, Avogel Tribe of Louisiana, Atakapas-Ishak Nation of Southwest Louisiana, Jean Charles Choctaw Nation, Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana, The Houma Nation and the Coco Tribe of Canneci Tinne. The day will begin at 10 AM. Opening ceremony at 10:30 AM by the Atakapa-Ishak Nation of Southwest Louisiana. Throughout the day, there will be dancing and drumming, music demonstrations, cultural and craft displays, storytelling, tomahawk throwing, crafts for the family, and more.
