    Boat Tour 9/14 11 AM

    Bayou Vermilion 300 Fisher Road, Lafayette, United States

    Come take a tour on the Cocodrie 2, Bayou Vermilion District's flat bottom boat. Learn all about the history, geology and environment of the Vermilion River. See the sights, flora and fauna (who knows, and a gator or two!) Spend an hour in the morning breezes, September 14, 11 AM. You will receive an email once we've received payment, requesting additional information. Once the additional information is received, you will receive confirmation of booking. ALSO, if you're looking for something else cool to do after your boat tour, you can buy tickets for a self-guided tour of our historic village here, as well. Life jackets must be worn, and will be provided for adults and children over 30 lbs. Siblings younger than 5 are free, and welcome, but MUST be  at least 18 pounds with an approved USCG life jacket to sit. We have a few life jackets for children above 30 pounds. All children must counted in the ticket numbers (limited space on our boat...) If they do not qualify for the 30-pound limit, you must bring a USCG-approved life jacket for them. . Ticket availability: 21

    Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK (may be pre-empted by private events). This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History Museum.Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman. The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine.   • Après Parler et Jouer Guided French Tour September 19

    After our next Parler et Jouer French Table, we're offering a Guided Tour of our historic village in French -- a further opportunity for French practice -- we'll also offer English translations for Francophile neophytes! The tour starts at 10 AM, and tickets are $15 Adults 18+, $13 Seniors, $11 Students, $5 Children under 5. Tickets available below!

    Vermilionville's weekly Cajun Jam Saturday afternoons 1-3 PM is led by some of the area’s finest musicians. The free jam is held in the Performance Center of Vermilionville and is open to all skill levels-beginner to professional. Admission is free but does not include entry to the park. Special thanks to the Cajun French Music Association for sponsoring our weekly jams!

    Bayou Fest & Boat Parade 2025

    Save the date for one of the best days on the bayou all year ’round! Gather your friends, your canoe, your cooler, your fiddle, your best costumes, your dog, whatever, and get ready to join us for a day to celebrate the Bayou Vermilion! This is going to be a great time on the water, and we want you to come a be a part of it. The parade will set sail at 11:30 AM from the dock at Vermilionville, and wind all along the bayou to Southside Park. We'll have music all the way down the bayou, and of course costume, shore party and boat decorating contests! A shorter paddle is also possible, ending at Camellia. Even if you stop paddling at Camellia, we encourage you to head down to Southside Park for Bayou Fest! At the park, we’ll have food and drinks, games, and music! Want to paddle but have no boat? The BVD has got you covered. We’ve got canoes and kayaks available to help you get in the water and experience our own Bayou Vermilion.
