• Bal du Dimanche: Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners

    Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK.  This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m.  Admission is $10 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History museum. Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman.  The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet.   • FREE Native American Culture Day

    Native American Culture Day is slated for Saturday, November 18, 2023, 10 AM – 4 PM at Vermilionville. It’s a FREE festival with family-friendly events, demonstrations, cultural exhibits and much more. Tribal groups who will participate include: Louisiana Attakapas Eagle Tribe, Avogel Tribe of Louisiana, Atakapas-Ishak Nation of Southwest Louisiana, Jean Charles Choctaw Nation, Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana, The Houma Nation and the Coco Tribe of Canneci Tinne. The day will begin at 10 AM. Opening ceremony at 10:30 AM by the Atakapa-Ishak Nation of Southwest Louisiana. Throughout the day, there will be dancing and drumming, music demonstrations, cultural and craft displays, storytelling, tomahawk throwing, crafts for the family, and more. Every year, Vermilionville celebrates the cultures of Acadiana that contributed so much to our unique folklife. Come back to Vermilionville in June for the return of our Créole Culture Day event!  On this day we recognize and honor our region’s Créole heritage. So much of our food, traditions, and music comes to our region from the Créole culture, and on this day we both demonstrate and celebrate its many contributions to our contemporary folklife.
