Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK.  This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m.  Admission is $10 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History museum. Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman.  The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet. French Festival: A Day En Français!

On Saturday, March 26 Vermilionville will host an all-day event that celebrates the French language and the vibrant cultures that speak it around the world.  Over the course of the day, guests will experience music in French, poetry and storytelling in French, games in French, French food and drinks, craft opportunities in French, French films, tours of the Vermilionville village in French, and more!  Admissions are discounted at $5 for adults, children 4 and under get in free. The event starts at 9am, so come on and start the day with coffee, fried bread, crêpes, and beignets En Français!  Vermilionville is partnering with organizations and vendors from the community to provide a truly French experience.  Pétanque Lafayette will be in attendance, and anyone of any skill level is invited to join in a game.  UL Lafayette Special Collections will also attend with examples of Francophone offerings from their holdings.  Nous Foundation, an independent platform for exchange between Louisiana and the French-speaking world will also be in attendance.  Vermilionville's Restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman will open at 11am, and French-speaking tables will receive a discount. New Year’s Eve Dance with Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie

Ring in the New Year with Geno Delafose and the French Rockin’ Boogie!  Don’t miss the biggest party of the year at Vermilionville with delicious food, drinks, and dancing with Geno Delafose, New Year’s Eve at Vermilionville. Lobby opens at 8 p.m.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with music from 9:30 PM - 12:30 AM.  Food and beverage are available for purchase.  Admission is $35 per person and includes a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight. All funds from this annual event will go towards programs that promote and preserve local cultures in Acadiana. NOTE: No outside food or beverages are allowed in the Performance Center. This includes water bottles, so be aware. Also, no large bags or backpacks, unless subjected to search by security. No smoking within 25 feet of the Performance Center. Smoking is allowed in designated areas, with clearly marked receptacles for cigarette butts.

Old Time Winter Traditions

Vermilionville

The community is invited to experience the simple warmth and beauty of Christmas past as Vermilionville’s historic village brings to life the holiday traditions of yesteryear. Visitors young and old are invited to sing Christmas carols, listen to storytelling, decorate cookies, make bousillage ornaments, view the decorations in the village, vote for their People's Choice in the Gingerbread House Contest thru December 16th and much more. Vermilionville’s artisans will be on hand to demonstrate winter traditions of the Acadian, Creole and Native American cultures such as open hearth cooking demonstrations and making candles, soap, natural decorations, and citrus pomanders. Children will enjoy writing letters to Papa Noël, and can even meet the French Santa Claus himself, who was actually a trapper that would deliver presents such as candy, money and small toys. We will also have animal feed for sale, so that guests can enjoy feeding our Provence donkey and three Gulf Coast Native sheep. Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman, will also be open for regular business hours that day, offering Cajun and Creole favorite plate lunches as well as a full menu of other items. December 16th will mark our Old Time Winter Family Day, with Vermilionville’s artisans on hand to demonstrate winter traditions of the Acadian, Creole and Native American cultures such as open-hearth cooking demonstrations and making candles, soap, natural decorations, and citrus pomanders. Children will enjoy writing letters to Papa Noël, and can even meet the French Santa Claus himself, who was actually a trapper that would deliver presents such as candy, money and small toys. Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman, will also be open for regular business hours that day, offering a full menu of Cajun and Creole favorites. Vermilionville is closed to the public on Monday, but is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM.
