Les Vues October — Louisiana Grass Roots
Join us for the October Les Vues selection, Louisiana Grass Roots, a short documentary about our forgotten prairie. The screening is FREE to the public, and there will be a short Q & A after the film with filmmakers Phyllis Griffard & Jillian Godshall.
Boat Tour 10/29 9:30 AM
Come take a tour on the Cocodrie 2, Bayou Vermilion District’s flat bottom boat. Learn all about the history, geology and environment of the Vermilion River. See the sights, flora and fauna (who knows, and a gator or two!) Spend an hour in the morning breezes with our boat captain, Mike Fowler, and Ivy Broussard as your guides. Life jackets must be worn and will be provided for adults and children over 30 lbs. Siblings ages 3-4 are free, and welcome, but MUST be at least 18 pounds with an approved USCG life jacket to sit. We have a few life jackets for children above 30 pounds. All children must counted in the ticket numbers (limited space on our boat...) Homeschool Days at Vermilionville
The last Wednesday on each month is Homeschool Day at Vermilionville -- homeschooling families get a discount on visits to the village! Come enjoy a self-guided tour and an optional rain garden tour (offered at 10 AM, 12 PM and 2 PM)Admission prices for Homeschool Day: age 5 - 17: $5; 18 -older $8.Just let the gift shop know you're a homeschooling family, and the discount will be applied!
Le Bal du Dimanche November 2– Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys
Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK (may be pre-empted by private events.) This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History Museum. Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant, La Cuisine de Maman. The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet. Le Bal du Dimanche is broadcast live on KRVS Public Media 1-3 PM. Sunday, November 2 -- Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys Admission to the Live Concert Series is included in your Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville membership.
