SUMMARY:Homeschool Boat Tour March 19\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Come take a tour on the Cocodrie 2\, Bayou Vermilion District’s flat bottom boat. Learn all about the history\, geology and environment of the Vermilion River. See the sights\, flora and fauna (who knows\, and a gator or two!) Spend an hour in the morning breezes with our boat captain\, Mike Fowler\, and Ivy Broussard as your guides. Admission prices: $10 Adults\, $6 Students 5-18. \nALSO\, if you’re looking for something else cool to do after your boat tour\, you can buy tickets for a self-guided tour of our historic village\, as well. \nLife jackets must be worn and will be provided for adults and children over 30 lbs. Minimum age is 5 and older. All guests MUST be at least 18 pounds with an approved USCG life jacket to sit in an adult’s lap. We have a few life jackets for children above 30 pounds. All children must count in the ticket numbers (limited space on our boat…) If they do not qualify for the 30-pound limit\, we have a few life jackets for 18-30 pounds but it is recommended you bring your own USCG- approved life jacket for them. \nIf you desire a guided tour of the village\, please email Engagement@bayouvermiliondistrict.org. \nTo register and purchase Boat Tour and self-guided village tour admission\, please fill out this form: \n \n

There’ll be great opportunities for your family to practice your French\, expand your vocabulaire\, and immerse yourself in everything French. We’ll play Pétanque and other jeux Français. There will be French tours of the village\, music\, poetry readings\, crafts and more! Here’s the schedule for the day: \n\n9 AM “Early Bird” French Table\n10 AM Community booths: CODOFIL\, Alliance Francaise\n10:30 Rosary in Louisiana French in the Chapel\n11:00 Rag Doll Craft in French in L’Ecole de Cuisine\n11:00 1-hour tour in French (meet at Pavilion)\n11:30 Poetry\, readings\, and songs in the Performance Center\n12:00 1-hour tour in French (meet at Pavilion)\n12:00 Cooking demonstration in l’Ecole de Cuisine – Chef Agnes Cappello\n1:00 – 3:00 Cajun Jam\n1:00 1-hour tour in French (meet at Pavilion)\n2:00 1-hour tour in French (meet at Pavilion)\n2:00 Rag Doll craft in L’Ecole de Cuisine\n3:00 French Table in L’Ecole de Cuisine\n3:00 1-hour tour in French (meet at Pavilion)\n\nIn addition\, Pétanque will be played in the Festival area\, traditional games will be played in French all day\, in addition to Cajun storytelling and music. DESCRIPTION:Bayou Vermilion District & Vermilionville host the Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) EVERY WEEK (may be pre-empted by private events). This live music series is held in Vermilionville’s Performance Center and rustic dancehall from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $12 and includes a self-guided tour of the Vermilionville Living History Museum.Come early and grab lunch at Vermilionville’s restaurant\, La Cuisine de Maman. The restaurant is open every Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and features authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. On Sundays\, the restaurant features an all-you-can-eat Sunday buffet.
