DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to join the Bayou Vermilion District’s Vermilionville to celebrate our annual FREE Festival\, Acadian Culture Day on Sunday\, August 9th from 10 AM – 5 PM. Join us for a family-friendly day of live music\, great food\, art\, cooking\, storytelling\, arts and crafts\, and other demonstrations. \nTHIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL SCHEDULE: \n10:30-11:15am French Mass with Fr. Jason Vidrine of Maison de Tours in the Chapel \n11:00am-3:00pm Food Booth (PC) \n11:30am-12:00pm Tintamarre through the village \n12:00-12:15pm Proclamation & Acadian Cultural Heritage Award \n12:00-12:30 Dance lessons with Britlyn Delahoussaye in the Schoolhouse \n12:30-1:00 French Table with Kevin Rees in the Cooking School \n12:30-1:00pm Storytelling & Art in French with Melissa Bonin in La Maison des Cultures \n12:30-1:30pm Giant Cajun Jam led by The Holiday Playgirls & Cathryn Hanks — Bring your instrument\, all musicians are welcome to join! \n1:00-1:30pm La Table Chantante  (Singing French Table) with Jolene Adams in the Cooking School \n1:00-1:45pm Panel Discussion on the Lomax Recordings with Moderator Colby LeJeune\, and panelists Dr. Barry Ancelet\, Jane Vidrine\, Kevin Rees\, Dr. Joshua Caffery in the Schoolhouse \n2:00-5:00pm Kevin Huval’s Cajun Creole Dance Band in the Performance Center \n2:00-2:30pm Poetry with Melissa Bonin in La Maison des Cultures \n2:15-4:30pm Belizaire the Cajun & Q&A with Glen Pitre in the Schoolhouse \n2:30-4:00pm Jambalaya Cooking Demo in the Cooking School \nAll day (10:00am-4:00pm) Vendors\, Community Partners\, arts & crafts\, Master Gardeners tours of the Healer’s Garden\, Acadian Family Committee and Genealogy Group in the Conference Room. \nCommunity Partners: CODOFIL\, Alliance Francaise\, Lafayette Master Gardeners\, Acadian Families Committee\, Jumelage of Scott\, Center for Louisiana Studies\, UL Lafayette Library Special Collections\,  Moriah Hargrave (ZydeFit & Fleurish) \nFood and beverage available for purchase.
