DESCRIPTION:ONLINE TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE — THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. \nRing in the New Year with Geno Delafose and the French Rockin’ Boogie!  Don’t miss the biggest party of the year at Vermilionville with delicious food\, drinks\, and dancing with Geno Delafose\, New Year’s Eve at Vermilionville. \nLobby opens at 8 p.m.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with music from 9:30 PM – 12:30 AM.  Food and beverage are available for purchase. Tickets are $45 each\, available below. \nAll funds from this annual event will go towards programs that promote and preserve local cultures in Acadiana. \nNOTE: No outside food or beverages are allowed in the Performance Center. This includes water bottles\, so be aware. Also\, no large bags or backpacks\, unless subjected to search by security. No smoking within 25 feet of the Performance Center. Smoking is allowed in designated areas\, with clearly marked receptacles for cigarette butts. \n

DESCRIPTION:Cajun filmmaker Pat Mire gives us an inside look at the colorful\, rural Cajun Mardi Gras. Every year before Lent begins\, processions of masked and costumed revelers\, often on horseback\, go from house to house gathering ingredients for communal gumbos in communities across rural southwest Louisiana. The often-unruly participants in this ancient tradition play as beggars\, fools\, and thieves as they raid farmsteads and perform in exchange for charity or\, in other words\, “dance for a chicken.”
