CANCELED: Les Mains Guidées: Traditional Book Binding
December 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Due to unforeseen circumstances, December’s Les Main’s Guidées is canceled. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your continued support!
During December’s Les Main’s Guidées, you’ll learn the art of traditional book binding from Vermilionville’s own Jude Darby. Jude is a talented, bi-lingual interpreter and tour guide at Vermilionville who shares the art of bookbinding with our guests in the Schoolhouse. During his workshop, you’ll learn about, and go through, each step in the book-binding process together, from fold the pages, to sewing your text block, to casing, and attaching the cover. Each student will leave with their own blank page journal, as well as all the tools (an awl, a bone folder, ruler, brushes, etc) and the knowledge to continue making books at home. This is a great session for right before the holidays!
This class is limited to 10 participants. Cost is $60 per person to cover materials, all of which participants can take home to continue their craft at the close of the session. We will be setting the workshop up following guidelines for social distancing, and we do request that all participants wear masks.
